The sixth annual Event School was even bigger and better than before, with classes from cocktail expert JJ Goodman to award-winning photographer Paul Clarke.
Our sixth annual Event School at the London Irish Centre in Camden was a roaring success with industry leading speakers delivering courses covering strengths-based leadership, wine knowledge, cocktail industry insight, and event photography – much needed in our industry!
Off to Work favourite Miriam Staley presented “Square Pegs Through Square Holes”. Designed to highlight the benefit of working with people’s strengths rather than focussing on their weaknesses, this course served as the perfect introduction to a positive management system which is growing in popularity, primarily because it propagates faster results and happier, more engaged employees.
We strongly believe that we should celebrate and capture the talent which abounds within the event industry and our “Perfect Pictures Proliferate Profile” course, hosted by Event Photography Awards professional category winner Paul Clarke, helped to highlight how to capture the best images in a venue or event environment.
Award winning founder of the London Cocktail Club, JJ Goodman, also graced the hallways of the LIC and delivered a superb insight into his rapidly expanding and successful business. Forthcoming Cocktail trends were also on topic and his summary of how to succeed in the bars and cocktail industry was well received by the attendee’s, many of whom were new contacts to Off to Work and independent business owners looking to make headway in the industry. We are delighted to have been able to provide a learning platform for them, we wish them the very best of luck in the future and look forward to seeing them back at Event School in the future!
Continuing our cocktail theme Off to Work's very own Josh Smith provided two brilliant cocktail masterclasses, educating his eager delegates in the art of mixing drinks correctly and also of the provenance and history of the most prevalent spirits. Off to Work partnered with Zip Bar, who provided the perfect bar platforms from which the delegates could shake, stir, blend and of course sample their creations!
Our ever popular “Going Bean Crazy” barista workshop was also a sell out on both days. Expert trainer Kamil Kamieniecki hosted comprehensive training sessions and offered individual feedback on technique and knowledge to each budding barista.
Event School 2015 is out for the summer, but we will return with a bigger and better syllabus early next year. Thank you to all who attended and of course to our wonderful and talented tutors and hosts. Watch out for updates on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Some quotes from our delegates:
