Our new Operations Manager for the North West is a familiar face.
Kate Ewbank started in our Birmingham office last year, and after some time away from the company, has rejoined the team in her hometown of Manchester where she endeavours to make some fantastic developments.
We caught up with Kate to discuss her background, her exciting new role, and what she hopes to achieve in the North West...
My career in hospitality began in 2012, where I worked as a host in-between modelling. What was meant to be a little part-time job quickly sparked my love and passion for the industry, and I soon worked my way up in the industry. I progressed to Reception Manager, where I helped with an amazing restaurant opening - assisting and training new staff, Business Development Manager and to then being promoted to a dual site Events & Sales Manager.
Whilst working in the industry, I had heard nothing but good things about Off to Work, so when I was looking for a career change I didn’t think twice about applying for the role back in Birmingham last year. Having events management experience and also staffing on a smaller scale, it sounded like the perfect opportunity for me. Not to mention that I would also be working with other hospitality professionals! What’s not to love!
My favourite memory has to be being tasked with looking after Cheltenham Festival earlier this year in March where we had around 300 staff working every day! So many months of planning, along with the late nights and early mornings but to see everything come together was absolutely amazing and a proud moment! At least I can say I know the way to Cheltenham and back now without a Sat Nav! I honestly couldn’t have done it without the help of the amazing Birmingham Ops team though. #oneteamonedream
I hope to bring my ‘on the floor’ experience of working in high-end restaurants and also my passion for delivering exceptional service to my clients. I’m lucky in a sense that I have worked for Off to Work in Birmingham before I relocated back to my home city of Manchester, so I have a good understanding of the company values. I love how passionate the company is about standards and expectations as it is something I’m very passionate about also. I’m really excited to be involved in every department this time round, from the initial recruitment and onboarding side to the staffing and operations!
Expansion to the North West is something I always naturally asked about being a northerner myself, as I saw how much the OTW staff stood out whenever I was at an event or sign-in. I could see that there was demand in the North West, and the time is finally right this year and I’m honestly so excited to be a part of it. We already have a great experienced team working with our amazing clients and there are so many exciting venues that our team members will have the opportunity to work at in these regions.
Absolutely! My favourite bar is definitely Albert Schloss; if you haven’t been you need to! And my favourite restaurant has to be Australasia
